Interview with social influencer Rhianna Blakesley

What is your main source of inspiration when it comes to staying up to date on the fashion industry?

Follow people who are experts in the fashion industry, and look at who they follow or are followed by.  Follow the bloggers you’ve identified on Instagram too, find out what they’re talking about and what’s trending on social media.

If you had to describe your personal style in one word what would it be?

I absolutely love being dressed up! Heels and boots are a necessity! Hey – dress like you’re going to meet your worst enemy today. Life is a party, dress like it! But then again being comfortable is an ultimate luxury but there’s no reason you can’t make a tracksuit look popping.

At the moment, are there certain trends/styles you are loving? Hating?

As we’re in the midst of Winter I’ve loved a bit of faux fur on jackets and coats in all colours. Also tracksuit sets are the comfiest to wear while I’m out and about or just relaxing on my days off. Jumpers with flared sleeves are my absolute go too! One of my styles that I can’t get enough of at the moment is a nice pair of short or high rise boots to accompany my outfits.

Who or what has been your greatest fashion inspiration?

At the moment I’m absolutely loving seeing fashion bloggers promote brands rather than famous people even though I love seeing celebrities fashion it’s nice to see businesses reach out to fashion bloggers!

Advice for all our fashionable readers?

I think the best advice is that you should always be yourself as fashion is the best way to present who you are and what you are about, so always be yourself and don’t be scared to try new styles and outfits. Clothing and fashion can make the worst of days feel better so wearing outfits that make you feel good about yourself is key, whether you’re at work, getting glammed up or even just relaxing, remember feel good! Another one of my go to tips for fashion and styles is that big brands are not always the better option, there are loads of small brands that are just entering the world of fashion and have new styles and trends that may be of interest for you, so I guess what I’m trying to say is to explore different brands and online shops as they may be hidden gems you may like. Take days out to go shopping and explore new styles, you don’t have to typically buy the first thing you see, try on clothes and plan outfits as you go around the shops and think wear would you wear the items and plan accordingly, for example start with the main body of the outfit then work your way to the bottom half then to shoes once you have planned an outfit or multiple outfits go on to accessorise once you know what the outfit looks like on and you will get ideas on how to accessorise. If you buy regular clothing then sign up to their newsletters and you’ll be constantly sent emails with all the latest trends! Remember you don’t need to overspend to look great! Fashion is supposed to be fun at any price point. It’s all about balance and how you make every look outfit look expensive. I will spend a little more on accessories, like shoes or bags than I would on clothing because I think it makes a little more sense to spend a little more on items you’ll get more wear out of opposed to splashing out on a dress you will only wear a few times. Instagram is a great way of keeping up-to-date on industry trends.
